This half-day programme is an opportunity to explore concepts and experiences of social enterprise and how Malaysia could benefit from this model and movement.

Social enterprises are becoming increasingly attractive as a way for organisations to generate sustainable income and deliver social impact in their communities.

It is designed for people interested in developing the growth of social enterprise and an accompanying ecosystem of support across Malaysia’s communities.


During this programme you will:

  • Share and develop your knowledge of the values and purposes of social enterprises and their context in Malaysia
  • Discuss live examples to deepen your understanding of the realities of running a social enterprise
  • Consider the potential of social innovation and its relationship with social entrepreneurship
  • Exchange experiences with peers who share goals of supporting sustainable social impact



Corporate foundations, NGOs and entrepreneurs, public sector stakeholders, business leaders keen to engage in supporting social enterprise in Malaysia.

Please note: There is a separate event for social enterprises only on Saturday 13th May.


Your Facilitators

Sam Baumber has over 18 years of experience in enterprise and learning and development. He is Managing Director of SEA International, a former Tutor with the Academy and a social entrepreneur, having cofounded Re-Union Canal Boats in 2004.

Juara Baharuddin is a cofounder of neOOne Associates Sdn Bhd, a human potential solutions provider. His experience in implementing a coaching culture in organisations includes work with Lafarge Cement, Dutch Lady, SME Bank, Bank Rakyat, BSN, MBO, Selangor Tither Agency and MNSP.


Social Enterprise Academy 

The Social Enterprise Academy was established in 2004 to further the emerging concept of social enterprise through training and personal development. 
It operates a network of Hubs and local Tutors in multiple countries including Australia, South Africa and Pakistan.
