Many non-profits organisations in Malawi and around the world are looking for ways to generate income in order to decrease their reliance on donor funding and become more financially sustainable.

 

Programme Structure

This programme explores 3 key areas related to financial sustainability and also includes Impact measurement Lessons which offers unique approaches for NPOs to become stronger and more resilient, thereby increasing their Social impact and Economic sustainability.

 

Programme Overview 

MODULE 1: Introducing Social Enterprise, 1 Day

Analyze the values and purpose of social enterprise. Explore questions and issues around social enterprise including its values and purpose to better understand where it sits in relation to the corporate and voluntary sector using real life examples to deepen your understanding of the nature of social enterprise.


MODULE 2: Measuring Social Impact, 1 Day (16 November 2018)

Explore methods available to measure your organization’s social impact. Evaluate which methodology is best suited to your needs and how you can conduct a social impact analysis to become more sustainable.


MODULE 3: Developing your Social Enterprise, 4 Days (7 December 2018)

Transitioning from donor-dependency to social enterprise can be a significant change for non-profit organisations. Explore the principles of marketing and finance that are essential to running a successful social enterprise.

 

Learners

Through a unique approach of peer-learning and development, this program will support you on financial sustainability through the development of income streams as non-profit leaders to equip you with the necessary steps on how to generate your own income, in addition to and/or independently of grant funding.

 

 

1. Ensure the set up and delivery of our learning programmes are fully inclusive and accessible, stress testing them through an anti-racism and discrimination lens

2. Ensure the content, theories and models used in our programmes reflect a wider range of culturally diverse global thinkers. 

3. Actively support the feature equity diversity and inclusion as a topic on our leadership programmes, supporting our facilitators to deliver this.

4. Ensure our recruitment and facilitator selection processes operate in a way that attracts and provides opportunities for more people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

5. Robustly monitor the demographics of our learners to ensure we are attracting learners that are more culturally representative of the communities we serve.

6. Provide ongoing support for staff/facilitators in the Academy (and who join) and in particular those who might come from diverse backgrounds as the Academy seeks to advance diversity, equity and inclusion.

7. Support all facilitators, staff and board members with their ongoing learning and development around equity, diversity and inclusion. 

8. Engage with and learn from individuals and organisations locally and globally tackling systemic racism and injustice.

9. Share learning from the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion working group internally and with other organisations.
