Martin Stepek

Southern Scotland

Martin has various roles: he is CEO of the Scottish Family Business Association and Director of Culture and Communications for the Scottish law firm, Wright Johnston & Mackensie. He is a teacher of mindfulness, author and poet, and a professional speaker on family history and Polish-Scottish heritage.


Martin's work involves five related areas.

In the arts he is an award-winning poet, author of two volumes, including the epic poem For There is Hope, about his father’s experiences in a Soviet political labour camp.

In the business world he is CEO of the Scottish Family Business Association and Director of Culture and Communications for the Scottish law firm, WJM.

In politics, he has been National Convenor of the Scottish Green Party and its head of operations. He runs a small group called Ethical Scotland which holds small-scale dinners which involves discussing political, social and environmental issues in an informal atmosphere.

He teaches and promotes mindfulness. His free weekly class in Hamilton is the largest in Scotland. In 2014 he published Mindful Living, and the following year, Mindful Living 2.

Martin’s fifth area of professional interest is his Polish heritage, including the Holocaust. He is in regular demand to do talks and presentations on these themes.
