This is a bespoke leadership programme, designed to meet the needs of emerging leaders in Gaelic Medium Education and Gaelic Learner Education. Gain invaluable insight into your own leadership style and qualities, and a range of tools and techniques to use in your future career.

We will explore specific leadership issues faced by the sector, such as implementing CfE, supporting ASN pupils and managing transitions, all within the context of contemporary resource challenges.

The current education context is one of rapid change and development for the Gaelic sector. The pressures on Gaelic medium/language education particularly, to raise standards and sustain improvement is a real challenge that is unlikely to recede in the coming years.

The wider Gaelic sector faces opportunities to work together for the benefit of the sector.

 

This programme will support you to:

  • Reflect on your role and identify your key strengths and areas for growth
  • Develop your leadership in the context of challenges your may face, e.g. responding to the growing demand for Gaelic learning, and working collaboratively with others in the sector
  • Gain clarity on setting direction for your work and developing confidence in communicating change.
  • Gain confidence in your abilities as a leader
  • Learn to use participatory techniques and other skills to improve your ability to engage in partnership working
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)

 

Learners

Teachers and educational professionals who would like to gain confidence in their ability to be effective, progressive, and self-aware leaders, potentially progressing their careers into head teacher or principal roles.

It will be delivered in Gaelic medium with learning materials provided in both Gaelic and English

Accreditation

This programme leads to a qualification by the City and Guilds Group through the ILM, entitled Award in Leadership (SCQF Level 9). The ILM are part of the wider City and Guilds Group: a global leader in skills development. This programme is also recognised by SCEL.

 

Programme Fee

With funding and support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig and support from Education Scotland, we are offering this programme at a highly subsidised cost of £395.

Cost includes accommodation and meals.
