Aisha Khairat, Director of The Social Enterprise Academy Egypt - and the rest of the team - have been recognised and awarded by Ain Shams University’s Innovation Hub (iHub) during the closing ceremony for ASU Innovates. The award was given to them for their hard work in delivering the “From Creative Potential to Sustainable Societal Impact” to the students of ASU’s Faculty of Specific Education, in partnership with the British Council.
The “From Creative Potential to Sustainable Societal Impact” was delivered in the form of a 5-day boot camp, giving the students the opportunity to develop their own sustainable business models. It was a peer-led, learner-centred transformational journey which revolved around skills-sharing and development. Students have had the chance to learn various marketing, and sales skills, as well as developing long-term financial plans to ensure the sustainability of their creative projects, which includes projects rooted in culture and heritage, the arts and performance, and information technology.
The programme ended with a pitching day of their business models to a professional board.
One learner on the course said:
This is the first time I feel like I can do something important to help myself and those around me. This programme gave me the tools I need to do something like this, I have gained a lot more confidence."
Another learner expressed:
I feel like I found myself. I finally took the first steps to achieve what I have always wanted to do."
